Mission Statement
The mission of the MOC-FV school counseling program
strives to ensure student success through a safe
and supportive environment in which all students
acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes
needed for educational, career, and personal/social development to become life-long learners, creative thinkers,
and responsible individuals.
WE BELIEVE
- students are our highest priority
- all students are unique, and when given a safe, nurturing environment, are provided with an opportunity to achieve their highest individual talent and potential
- all students have the right to individual student planning that addresses their goal in academic, career and personal/social development and are encouraged to pursue their options
- all students’ ethnic, cultural, racial, gender differences and/or special needs are considered in planning and implementing the school counseling program
- every student has the right to be heard and treated with respect
- reaches every student
- is comprehensive in scope
- is proactive in design
- is an integral part of and aligned with the MOC-FV educational program and standards
- utilizes the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Standards as the foundation for guidance curriculum that supports academic, career, and personal/social development
- is implemented by credentialed school counselors in collaboration with other educators, families and community resources
- uses data to drive intentional guidance activities and for change when needed
- monitors student progress
- collects and shares process, perception, and results data and analyzes critical elements
- be accessible to all students
- work with other educators, families and community resources, as an advocate for student success
- be advocates and catalysts for the growth of and support for every student
- design, implement and evaluate the comprehensive school counseling program that is aligned to the district’s strategic plan
- abide by the professional school counseling ethics as advocated by the American School Counselors Association
- participate in professional development activities essential to maintaining a quality school counseling program
